John Wick: Chapter 4 : Review

A sensational entry into the action heavy franchise that is “John Wick” & quite possibly the best action film in years. JWCH4 features the best of the 4 films action choreography and scenery set pieces you will ever see in a film to date. My jaw was dropped half the time watching the frantic array of non stop pace over/over. Although Keanu Reeves will always be NEO to me, I can appreciate the quality and magnificent scope of intensity and energy the John Wick films can provide! Keanu is an extremely underrated martial artist and actor for his disciplined techniques. He definitely deserves all the praise for his stunts as-well. I go into each JW film with an open mind of appreciation for the martial arts & fight sequences, the films are guilty pleasures to me as I can’t take them seriously at all. This is not a shot at the film or it’s direction, having camp is not a bad thing though. Mr Wick has surely come a long way since losing his dog & wife in the first film. Regardless, definitely will always be there day 1 for any Reeves film and can easily say this is one of his best ever put to screen. Speaking of martial arts, it’s hard to ignore the dedication shown by Donnie Yen here as-well. Yen has a standout role most definitely. They’re are a lot of highlights in JWCH4 that will make you gasp and clap from excitement. Including many nods to films such as “The warriors”, “Mission impossible” and even the first “John wick” ‼️ If this really is it for the “John Wick” films & Keanu reeves before retirement, congrats to everyone involved in the making of these revolutionary action films. They are all top notch in my books and will be remembered one day as some of the best action films of this generation! This was a spectacular conclusion and wrap up for the babayaga films, so glad they didn’t milk the franchise for more entries then it really needed to off a basic premise. Keanu Reeves remains a GOD. Had a great time watching it with a friend at an advanced screening. Definitely recommended viewing in the cinemas for the best possible experience and fulfilling outcome!

Classic John Wick in the masterpiece Awesome sphere #4 is the bestest of the series in all areas. Neon lights, glass and mirror combat fights, mano a mano fights, bow and arrow, car chases, and some puppy love. Punchy and Clever and a touch of wicked humor. Nothing was left out in this promises made and promises kept sequel. For sure, one can enjoy this without seeing the first 3, bc the mystique and narrative are just right. The rhythm and rhyme is impeccable. It’s so simple and clear in its own pretenses that unless you understand the genre you just won’t get it. As smart and zany as the original TV Batman and the original Star Trek. Pummel perfection. Tokyo, New York City, Berlin, Sahara Desert, Paris…candle lit sunlit, neon lights…the cinematography is brilliant. And the stunt work is pure brilliancy and exhilarating. The layered sublime tints of orange sherbet, blurple, and pistachio green hues splattered subtly on faces, shiny black vinyl shadows, stainless steel, is astounding. Skittles meets lava lights meets noire. An impressive concert of staging, breath taking moods and vistas. Setting is lush, costumes are tailored, both essential in defining attitude and depth and logic to a warriors demeanor. Everything including chaos has its place and purpose and is unapologetically perfect how it lands. Heads or tails. Death or life. All your past characters are here with some new faces that are sleek and streamline. Brooding, calculating, and committed. For those who are seeing this with no backstory, you won’t feel disappointed or out of the loop. The film is excellent exciting and action is everything. Keanu Reeves is enjoyable as well as the cast. I will say the opening scenes were shocking. Dont miss, there is another scene after all the closing credits. The best part of this film is they took time to give a cut that tells and fleshes out an appealing story. It’s fun and easy to watch. So go and enjoy. I give it 5 John Wicks , “Yeahs!”

John Wick Chapter 4 is a love letter to action film-making and every action cinema lovers wet dream. The cinematography is oscar worthy, the neo-noir genre has never looked better on the big screen as the bold and vibrant colours makes each scene of this film a bold underlined statement that what you are experiencing is something special. The action choreography utilizies 100% of each and every set design used in the film to incorporate drama, thrill and also comedy. This movie has everything you could ever ask for – guns, knifes, nunchucks, katanas, martial arts, cars, flamethrowers, bare hands etc. The stuntwork is jaw-dropping and adrenaline inducing, specially a stunt that was performed on a staircase on the later half of the film, left me wondering how did the stunt coordinator get that Tom Cruise-level life threatening stunt greenlit. But what truly makes this story special are the characters and the drama surrounding them as they manoeuvre their way through this twisted world of crime where each person is their only friend. There are a lot of new characters introduced and none of them feel throwaway as each and everyone of them bring something new and exciting to the table and moves the narrative forward. And the centre of this narrative, Keanu Reeves who plays John Wick, a loving husband proves once again why his contribution to this role will be remembered forever as something that revolutionalized action film-making. This was the one of the most satisfying experience I ever had inside a movie theatre and it leaves you with the question that how many times are you going to return to experience this once in a lifetime masterclass in action film-making. 10/10 – John wick Chapter 4 is a a modern day classic
